Fading Soul

Standing among the stars, gaze cold and forever empty. Cloudy blue eyes holding no more than a reflection of the space in which she stood. The Goddess felt her life ebbing, the soft fluttering of wings brushing against her hands. Her soul, held in the twin moons that normally stood at her side, was now a delicate butterfly, resting calmly in the space before her.

Bringing her hands up to hold the dying insect, she could feel the cold drifting off of it, pooling into her cupped hands like water. Though she could not see, she knew that it was the soul fragmenting, her soul, fragmenting. The Goddess closed her eyes, sorrow permeating the area as each fragment of her soul fluttered away.

Time and space, as eternal as her own creation, were now all she was left with and the stars fell from the sky, twinkling before falling. They wept for the lonely creature, for all that remained of the once powerful Moon, was nothing more than an empty husk...
